“thank you for keeping me updated with your future plans,
especially when they’re related to me :)”
I was pissed. And wasn’t planning on letting this one go
easily.

Incoming call
Faisal SA #
I pressed the decline button, and
went to my Whatsapp chat-settings to turn off the Last Seen Timestamp, so
that he wouldn’t know if I’m online or not. Honestly, lately I started getting annoyed by people being on my back for ‘not answering right away’ and talking to me once I open my
Whatsapp, and so I thought it was time to become a ghost:).
Faisal called again, and I
ignored him. He had to know that I was angry with him, and that his sweet talks
won’t let me
pass this one. After a couple of minutes Jen came into my room with the Kitchen’s portable telephone and told me
that someone wanted me on the other line,
“Who is it?” I asked her
“I don’t know! They say its urgent!” she replied back
“Alo?” I spoke through the phone
“y3ni al7en 3shanha galat urgent trden, bs eli ga3d ydagdg 3ala jawalk
mu muhim abad 97?” it was Faisal.
I kept quite.
“ee w leh ma trden?” he asked
“madri ent goly..”
“Sul mu fahim leh z3lana al7en?”
“la abad shd3wa mafe shay yza3il. Tro7 w tklim aboy w omy w kl a7ad
enk bt56bny w ana a5r w7da t3rf blw’9o3. La la abad mafe shay yza3l shd3wa….”
“Sul all I did eni s2lt 3ami brayah and for his blessings! If we want to do this, we have to do it the right way. I refuse to
talk to you behind everyone’s back like we’re doing something wrong! Wain elmushkla enna nimlik al7en w
t9eren 7laly w kl a7ad y3rf enk you’re mine, w ntzawaj ba3ad ma tt5arjen?”
“6b leh ma gltly kl hatha gbl? Leh twk al7en?” I simply asked
“walaa sorry 7abebty enty, bs l2ni a3rfk‼ You’ll panic and think enk 'twk 9’3era' 3ala elzawaj, w ena 97batik byst’3rbon, w ena elnas bt7ky and you’ll over think it w mn hal 7aky w
mar7 tr’9ain. W ana
ma agdar aswi shay b’3er r’9ak!”
How was I supposed to answer him?
He actually made sense back then! and I felt like I shouldn’t be mad at him anymore. I
got my explanation and apology. Such things are what made me grow to love
Faisal more and more everyday. His maturity, decision-making, and sensibleness
were the things that really differentiated him than everyone else around me. I
fell in love with his manliness more than anything else that defined him, because I always
knew that no matter what happens he’ll always have my back.
“6yb 5la9 bs next time please keep me updated,” I replied back to him
“etha to3ideeny that you’ll listen w we’ll work things out together,”
“enshalah!” I promised him
“yala I’ll leave you now, I have a couple of things I need to do, w lazm
asma3 mn 3ami greb ok?”
“y9eerr 5air enshalah”
“laa, y9er 5aair enshala, w milka elesbo3 eljay”
“eishhh?” I asked surprised
“sm3teny, nimlk gabl la trj3en el Sharjah!” he stated
“Faisal enhabalt! Eish y3ni nimlk within a month? Ma agdar lw aby
ajahiz ashya2! W we haven’t decided how we want to do this.” I replied back
“6yb 5ala9 I’ll come over tomorrow w n8arir” he replied with a hint of a smile.
“umm ba6la3 bukra!” I lied. What? Mu 3ala kaifa.
“5la9 a5l9 sh’3ly w amrkum!”
“laa t3al this weekend!” I replied back
“laa I want us to celebrate your birthday as official couples etha
ma 3laik amr!”
“Uffff Faisal you’re too demanding‼” I stated angrily
he started laughing out loud, “hatha w e7na mu mtzwjen ga3da

“mu ga3da agolk ela el7gega! W 5la9 t3al bukra b3d el3sha, I should
be home.”
“5la9 ajal ashofk bukra”
“ok..”
we both stayed on the line till
he had to end it, “I need to go, later baby!”
“byee.”
I knocked on my parent’s bedroom door and entered,
“mamaa?”
“t3ali ana hinaaa!”
I followed her voice to her walk in closet; to
see her in the most beautiful maxi dress I laid my eyes on. The maroon dress
sat on her body as if it had been made for her, it hugged her figure in the
right places and complimented her skin color perfectly! She looked stunning as always.
“Mama! It looks amazing on you!”
“walaa? Ga3da afakir albsah 7g 3irs bnt 5aly elesbo3 eljay”
“6yb ana agolk fe munasaba tnasba akthar..” I replied back to her, as I
stared at my feet with a shy smile
“bashryy tfahmty enty w Faisal?” her tone pleaded for thee answer!
“ee twni mskra mna, a8na3ny bly galah el9ara7a.. goly l baba 5ala9”
she came to me fast enough that I
didn’t notice
her and hugged me so hard
“abrakha mn sa3a eli ashofk feha 3arosa ya b3d eldnyaa!”
“mama please don’t cry w t9y7eny m3ak! Abad mu wgta” I replied with a giggle
“5la9 ana a3lm abok w a5leh yrd 3ala 3amik w Faisal!”
“6yb lazm al7en ntfaham 3ala a couple of things 3shan etha ja
Faisal bukra ntifg 3ala kl shay!”
“eg3idy b 9alatna w ana al7en jayitik!”
I went to sit in my mother’s living room, to find Rathiya,
our Ethiopian housekeeper, placing my mom’s pot of Arabic coffee, as its her ritual to drink Arabic coffee
every evening, weird I know.
“Sul 7abebty shfty telephone elm6ba5?”
“ohh ee b’3rfty! Ro7y 5utheh lw t7tajonah!”
“ok ya 7ilwa!” it always made me laugh whenever she calls me names, like my mom
doesn’t even do
that haha:p
My mom came and sat next to me
and poured herself some coffee. To be honest, although I’m very attached to my Arabian
roots, I still can’t manage to drink Arabic coffee, gaah it’s taste is so unpleasant.
“ha golely eish etfagto 3laih?”
“lal7en ma atfgna 3shn kitha bymr bukra! T5ayly mama ybena nimlk
gabl la aro7 el Sharjah‼ glt lah ma

complained to her

“esm3eni 6yb w enty 8ariry!” she shut me up and continued, “ana mt2kda mlyon bl miya w zay ma enty benty ma a’9n fe a7ad by3rfk akthar mny!

“977..” I replied quietly
“5la9 ajal! Ento ektbo elktab w 3yno mn alah 5air w nswe shay bse6

had a better one in mind!
“ana agol ma nswi 7ta a small party! 5la9 a wedding b3dain ykfy!

“ely yry7k ya mama” she replied as she sipped on her
coffee
“mama t7seny agdr 3ala hal ms2olya?” I asked my mother out of the bloom.
